We are now looking for a Strategic Purchaser to strengthen the Strategic Sourcing & Project Purchasing organization. Main goals are high quality and reliable suppliers securing deliveries in a sustainable way in co-operation with VEO business segments. The Strategic Purchaser is responsible for supplier relations, securing supply agreements and building excellent long-term relations with our preferred suppliers.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Strategic Purchaser is in a key role in managing business unit’s interaction with suppliers working in close cooperation and alignment with internal stakeholders. This role significantly contributes to obtaining optimal supplier base for achieving desired level of quality, delivery, cost and lead time.

The main objective of the Strategic Purchaser is management of sourcing and purchasing activities for Metal Constructions which includes sheet metal parts, frames, cabinets, copper and aluminum needed for production and assembly. Other components, mechanics, systems and services can also be considered in the category team.

Securing compliance related matters in the supply chain will be a significant part of this role moving forward.

Preparation of agreed sub-category strategies in co-operation with Category team and providing internal purchasing instructions & guidance. Leading supplier negotiations and making applicable supply agreements. The Strategic Purchaser makes purchase orders (tactical purchasing) in co-operation with VEO project purchasing pool for selected sub-categories.

Location of this position is in Vaasa Finland.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead contract and purchasing negotiations within own sub-category by securing supply agreements and annual price lists, if applicable
• Support factory operative purchasing through securing most competitive pricing
• Manage and execute together with sub-category team and other internal stakeholder’s supplier development initiatives
• Execute benchmarking
• Execute and support supplier selections
• Manage supplier related escalations and complaints
• Develop and execute strategic purchasing and sub-category strategies and action plans in alignment with businesses
• Capture and secure synergy opportunities from global supply base bringing benefits to the businesses
• Handle project purchasing activities for VEO Group 

REQUIREMENTS

• Education: B.Sc, M.Sc or equivalent
• Experience of strategic purchasing, preferably in the area of metal constructions
• Excellent communication, presentation and cooperation skills
• Sourcing experience
• Experience of contract management
• Good negotiation skills
• Good management skills
• Independent, proactive, development-minded and goal focused attitude to work
• Fluent written and spoken in Finnish, good skills in Swedish and English. 
• Know-how of the existing supplier network is an advantage
