Electrical Engineering

As a Trainee in VEO’s Engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects that drive the green energy transition.

Your tasks can include:

• Designing electrical systems for modern power plants, substations and industrial facilities

• Participating in factory and site tests, ensuring top-quality solutions

• Preparing project documentation and supporting different project phases

This role gives you a unique chance to see the entire project lifecycle – from concept to commissioning – across VEO’s diverse portfolio in the renewable energy sector.

Mechanical Engineering (position located only in Vaasa)

As a Trainee in our Mechanical Engineering team, you’ll get to work alongside experienced designers on real products that are built in our own factory. Your main task will be 3D mechanical design using Autodesk Inventor - giving you hands-on experience with tools used across the industry.

Your tasks can include:

• Designing sheet metal structures

• Creating internal busbar layouts for low-voltage switchgear

• Developing mechanical solutions for products used in modern energy systems

This role is a great opportunity to build your 3D design skills, see your work come to life in production, and be part of projects that drive the future of green energy.

Automation

As a Trainee in our Automation team, you’ll get hands-on experience with modern control systems used in hydropower, Wärtsilä power solutions, and industrial automation. 

Your tasks can include:

• Designing and testing PLC software, HMIs and operator panels (including FAT testing)

• Working with real automation systems that keep critical energy processes running

• Supporting our System Lifecycle Services by maintaining and upgrading computer-based control systems

You’ll gain practical skills with technologies widely used in the energy sector and get to see how automation brings renewable energy projects to life.

Project Management

As a Trainee in Project Management, you’ll become an essential part of our project team and get to see how large-scale energy projects are planned, executed and delivered. Your contribution will help the team reach - and even exceed - project goals.

Your tasks may include:

• Monitoring material deliveries and suppliers

• Preparing and updating project documentation

• Participating in project meetings together with the team, suppliers and customers

• Supporting the Project Manager in various tasks depending on the project scope

This role gives you a front-row seat to how real engineering projects are run, offering valuable experience in teamwork, coordination and communication; skills that are highly appreciated in any future career.

Operative Purchasing (position located only in Vaasa)

As a Trainee in Operative Purchasing, you’ll be an important part of keeping our projects running smoothly. Your role includes preparing timely, high-quality and cost-efficient purchase orders for materials, packaging and transport services. You’ll work closely with several internal and external stakeholders, ensuring everything flows seamlessly from order to delivery.

Because this role involves daily communication with suppliers and project teams in Finland, good Finnish skills are required. Proficiency in English is essential for working in our international environment.

This position offers a great opportunity to learn how procurement supports large-scale energy projects; and to build skills that are valuable in any future career path.

Office Assistant (position located only in Vaasa)

As an Office Assistant Trainee, you'll help keep things organized, support daily operations, and make sure everyone who comes to our office feels welcome.

Your tasks may include answering the main phone line, handling mail, greeting visitors, supporting colleagues with day-to-day needs, and helping set up meetings. Basically, you’ll be helping the office run smoothly and learning a lot along the way.

Fluent Finnish and English are a must, as you’ll be communicating with both colleagues and visitors.

If you are organized, social, and enjoy helping others, this is a great chance to gain valuable experience in an international environment. Your first working period may take place during the winter holiday season (around Easter).

Previous experience in any of these areas is an advantage, but most importantly, we value your curiosity, willingness to learn, and ambition to become one of VEO’s future experts.
